Walk and Pray
One of the only things all of us can do at the moment is exercise. I don’t know about you but after sitting in the house trying to work, or looking after the kids all day or even just watching TV- I feel I need to get outside for a run or a walk.
Walking can be one of the best forms of exercise physically and mentally for us at this time. And it’s more enjoyable with someone else. We are allowed to walk with someone else outside our household if you’re alone.
Conversation seems to be better and deeper and longer when we just go for a walk rather than somewhere else where our attention is easily taken by other things. It’s the exact same when we are communicating with God.
The Bible is full of people walking with God.
Adam and Eve were "walking in the garden in the cool of the day" (Genesis 3:8) with God
Enoch and Noah in Genesis 5/6 didn’t just sit, kneel or stand with God- our usual ways we think of- They were constantly in communion with God
There are countless verses in the Old and New Testament about our life walking with God.
And God desires us to follow Him, to walk humbly in relationship with Him, to walk in the light, to walk in love, to walk worthy of our calling.
He wants companionship, intimacy and conversation with us.
God longs to walk with us.
So I’d love to challenge us in the next 20 days left of this lockdown currently for someone to sign up everyday to walk for an hour and pray.
Pray for yourself, pray for our Church, for our community and the world and everything happening in it. To listen to God and to receive from Him.
You can use the prayer booklet to help or just pray freely on your own.
